INDIAN TIKTOKERS

INDIAN TIKTOKERS

I am pretty sure that you all must be familiar with cringy Indian tiktok videos, some are funny, some are sad, some are absurd, others try to be entertaining to appeal to the masses I guess once you get popular in that platform you get paid, I haven’t really used the app for long so I don’t really know about monetization.
And as much as foreigners try to make fun of those videos by making memes or laughing at them, its quite arguable that some of them do appreciate the creativity behind them, now if you are like most people you might think well those tiktok videos are just plain cringy and unfunny they are not creative at all … then I hate to break it to you but “you are wrong” those videos even though cringy have an essence of creative work that goes into making them
let’s see what creativity is, and to tell that I am directly going to quote one of my favourite authors
James clear  on his famous blog on creativity he goes on to write it as  The creative process is the act of making new connections between old ideas or recognizing relationships between concepts. Creative thinking is not about generating something new from a blank slate, but rather about taking what is already present and combining those bits and pieces in a way that has not been done previously.”
Now that we have it out of the way and I hope i have convinced you that how creative some of those tiktokers are, let’s take a look at what makes their videos so cringy the obvious might be their acting and how they seem to overact in almost all the videos, now lets take a deep jump into their mindset and lets try to figure out from where those overacting skills are coming from.

The first and obvious culprit is Indian television soap operas
Yeah, we all can go on hours ranting about tv shows and how overdramatic those are and so blaming them for the obvious shouldn’t come as a surprise to most of you.
Another thing which is made fun of by the westerners are the weird sound and transitions effects of these tv shows, though I am quite sure that they don’t do it nowadays but the fact that they used to do it a few years back is kinda funny
The second and probably the biggest culprit is Indian movies esp old hindi and south Indian movies
Most of the teens might not watch a television because they require a regular dedicated commitment but movies do not so generally movies get watched more than TV serials in general
Most of the tiktok videos that we see can be seen as a direct failed attempt to copy some ubercool south Indian hero who might be cringy to us but for the guys who have grown up watching those, its quite normal and so their mindset generally pushes them to be like their heroes and so they try to copy the most attractive traits for their favourite superhero.

The third big culprit is of course
SOCIETY

So Why are Indian shows and movies so bad?
One of the main reason behind this can be Indians don’t really judge the tv shows and movies that are presented to them, we sort of see it as a a gift or something that has been given to us like what I mean is that is when as a kid we got a chance to see some tv show did we fucking complain and criticise it ? no! b because “behenchod ek toh aise hi dekhne ko nhi milta jyada finally ab tv k samne betha hu ab kya complain karu” xdddd
Indians see a movie like a gift and not a as something to be judged so there’s very less criticism that the producers of these shows and movies have to face compared to the total viewers.
so genuinely they will keep making the shit since it keeps selling.

When Indians complain
Let’s say you are a bit over smart Indian like me who has been exposed to the foreign culture of art and entertainment and so you clearly see the problem with entertainment industry and so you do … this all may seem like fine but in reality it isn’t how the story unfolds, usually Indians complain after getting fed up totally and usually at that point of time they are usually very frustrated so some of the criticism passed has a bit of hate with it too and thus they get labeled as haters and the directors are like we will keep making it only few people are complaining and clearly they are out haters *insert haters gonna hate quotes*
Are the tiktokers spoiling India’s name infront of the world?
A hard to discuss topic but I don’t really think so, well at least the world is getting to know about India.
I just don’t hope they generalise Indians like those tiktokers lol even if they do it would be kinda funny tho… I mean you can hate the foreigners for overgeneralising but I am gonna go and laugh with them xdddd

So in conclusion
Idk what the conclusion is I just felt like writing so I wrote whatever came to my mind I wish I had some plans to make the best out of tiktok but I don’t really have one and don’t even wana have one. Lets see how this whole tiktok scene evolves overtime.
Just make sure you don’t hate these tiktokers and the videos that they make, coz hating it will only give it more attention and also hating is kinda cringe bro I mean haven’t you hated it already, its old just learn to ignore it, let them do whatever they feel like. The app surely has some positive things too but don’t fcking end up using it xdddd aight imma head out finna make some videos for my page

  1. Indians don’t really know what to judge and when to judge. The reason (atleast I believe) is lack of internet access. I backed up my point with the reason that before ‘Jio’ internet plans were way too costly that most middle class people can’t afford those so you end up watching what is easily accessible, which is at that time was Bollywood films.

And the fact that humans generally adapt themselves according to the environment to be acceptable in the society. Even though it maybe cringe for you but to match your friends’ taste you start to like it and as you grow up the taste possess you to only perceive that kind of content.

    1. Edit 2022: Indiansz and to some extent world never did, nor will do accept Avant-Garde work because it shakes the very basis of their cognitive process, goes against popular culture (memers on Internet), or simply becomes a thing everyone hates.
